Los Angeles, CA – March 6, 2015 – Director Dep Kirkland, has announced plans to bring the hit stage play, MsTRIAL, to the screen as a motion picture. This compelling and captivating story sheds light on sexual assault and the lack of resolution from the legal system. Now MsTRIAL has teamed with MAN UP campaign and Bernie Fatla, activist and co-founder of Le Dame Footware, in an IndieGoGo campaign to fund the motion picture. The goal is to raise $250,000 by April 1st, 2015.
This is an important film that can lead a cultural shift. It shows rather than talks about the issue of non-consensual sex between men and women. The MsTRIAL script goes beyond posters in the hallway or speeches. It creates art to bring relatable characters to life at the highest level of excellence. The film gets people to start talking and “Raise the Volume” on this unresolved matter. When individuals are involved and inquire, it leads to a better understanding. IndieGoGo Campaign partner, MAN UP, is a global initiative to get young people to stop violence against women and girls in their community through arts, sports, and technology. 50% of all funds received past the campaign goal will go towards MAN UP. Also, 25% of all profits form the film will go towards the global charity that protects women from violence.
